Blood donors urgently needed in Augusta

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- The national blood supply
drops every summer as vacations and warm-weather activities lull regular donors
out of their routine. Shepeard Community Blood Center is asking the community
to roll up their sleeves to help critically ill patients this summer at local
hospitals.

Former Augusta Salvation Army officers help in Oklahoma

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- Majors Chip and
Leisa Hall, former Augusta Commanding Officers, are on the ground in Moore,
Okla. working with emergency disaster relief services providing relief to those
affected by last night's tragedy.

The
Halls served the Greater Augusta Area for five years by overseeing the Family
Stores and Center of Hope, and by pioneering the Kroc Center initiative. They
were stationed in Oklahoma City during the time of the tornado and both remain
unharmed after the storm passed.

Kroger accepting donations for tornado victims

Atlanta, GA (WFXG)- Kroger stores throughout the Atlanta Division are encouraging customers and
associates to donate to the American Red Cross, which is providing first aid
assistance, meals, emotional support and other necessities to those affected by
the deadly aftermath of the Oklahoma tornadoes that touched down on Monday, May
20.

Professor offers free summer chemistry course

Paine College Campus (WFXG)- Dr.
Sardar Yousufzai, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Physics & Environmental
Sciences will offer a free six-week chemistry course for middle and high
students starting June 6th-July 18th 2013. The
free six-week, one -hour course will cover the basic concept of Chemistry
through instruction and demonstration. The objective is to prepare students
with basic knowledge for science courses. The course will take place on the

Road closures announced for Thunder Over Augusta

County wishes to inform the driving public of two temporary road closures in

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- The 2013 Masters Tournament just wrapped up, but it's now time to start thinking about the 2014 tournament.

Applications are now being accepted for 2014 badges. Anyone can apply. All you have to do is go to the Masters website and fill out your application. But hurry, the deadline for tournament badges is May 31st and practice rounds is June 30.

Badge recipients are selected randomly and those selected will be notified by the email provided on their application.

Augusta Regional gets high marks from FAA

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG)- Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) received its annual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification inspection last week. Every year the FAA inspects all commercial service airports in order to ensure compliance with federal regulations and safety mandates. The FAA Inspector for AGS found zero discrepancies, giving the Airport a 100% approval rating for the second year in a row!
